HSR & ECRL

Benefits of High-Speed Rail

Implementing high-speed rail (HSR) will provide  with more transportation choices. It will also make sure that people  remains an economic engine, and meets the environmental and energy challenges of this century.
Investing in high-speed rail:

  • Creates Jobs:Building high-speed rail will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.  Every $1 billion in investment creates 24,000 jobs. These are highly skilled jobs that will revitalize the domestic rail industries supplying transportation products and services. Many additional jobs are created through the commerce fostered through the economic activity and development which they spark.

  • Increases Economic Activity:Every $1 invested creates $4 in economic benefits. Upgrading passenger operations on newly revitalized tracks, bridges and rights of way is spurring business productivity along corridors.  The rail services will connect America’s economically vital mega-regions and help keep them mobile, productive, efficient and internationally competitive.

  • Reduces Congestion and Boosts Productivity:  Congestion on our nation’s roads costs $140 billion in lost time and productivity.  The U.S. population is projected to grow by another 100 million people in the next 40 years. The population growth is creating mega-regions that will not prosper unless they can be freed from the stranglehold of highway and airport congestion. At the same time, the United States cannot build enough highway capacity or airport runways to meet demand.

  • Reduces the Nation’s Dependence on Foreign Oil:  Implementing high-speed rail will keep billions of dollars in the U.S. economy by decreasing the amount of oil that the U.S. consumes.    According to the International Association of Railways (UIC), high-speed rail is eight times more energy efficient than airplanes and four times more efficient than automobile use. It will also decrease greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.

  • Expands Travel Choices and Improves Mobility:High-speed rail can deliver people from one downtown to another as fast as or faster than air travel.  The addition of HSR as an integrated part of America’s transportation system will help airports work better and highways work better. It will also expand options for citizens in rural and small urban communities with increased transfer points and feeder services that connect with new HSR corridors

2. Make a quick getaway

When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go. You can't just hop on a plane five minutes after deciding to. Our trains, on the other hand, are fast, frequent and fuss-free.

3. Eat, drink and be merry

You'll find all manner of things to tickle your taste buds and keep your tummy from rumbling on board, and if you're in First Class it's all free, and served at your seat.

4. Freedom of movement (or stillness)

Want to stretch your legs or pop to the loo? Go for it. There are no seat belts, and no one telling you what you can and can't do with your limbs. Within reason

1 MALAYSIA PROGRAMS

1Malaysia (pronounced One Malaysia in English and Satu Malaysia in Malay) is an ongoing programs designed by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on 16 September 2010, calling for the cabinet, government agencies, and civil servants to more strongly emphasis ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance.
There are several programs such as:

1Malaysia Clinic

Malaysians are now able to enjoy medical treatments at just RM1 per visit. The clinics, with over 50 outlets nationwide, are strategically located in various housing areas. There are between three and four such clinics available at each State at the moment.
This initiative provides immediate healthcare to all Malaysians who are in need of basic medical services. With qualified nurses and medical assistants with at least five years of experience, the clinics are able to carry out minor surgeries, stitching, wound cleaning and dressing as well as treating illnesses like cough, flu, fever, diabetes and hypertension. Senior citizens are exempted from any payment.

1Malaysia Youth Fund

The 1Malaysia Youth Fund was launched to provide financial support for young people to undertake creative projects that nurture national unity. RM20 million was allocated for the fund under Malaysia's budget passed in 2010. The fund was proposed by the Barisan Nasional Youth Lab.[
Prime Minister Najib said that 1Malaysia Youth Fund reflected the government's commitment to empowering young people. "The scope and the projects should address three criteria – focus on nurturing unity in Malaysia, have a multiplier effect on the general community, and be led by young people. The objective is to encourage youths to use their imagination to the fullest. We want them to be creative and innovative. Maybe their ability may exceed our expectations and maybe they can do something which has not been thought of by us,” said Najib

1Malaysia Development Berhad

1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is a strategic development company, wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia.1MDB was established to drive strategic initiatives for long-term economic development for the country by forging global partnerships and promoting foreign direct investment. 1MDB is currently involved several high-profile projects such as the Tun Razak Exchange, Tun Razak Exchange's sister project Bandar Malaysia and the acquisition of three Independent Power Producers.
